5-7 May 2026: Tradinnovation Session at the 15th International Workshop on Molecular and Physical Gastronomy

During this workshop, two sessions were  organized on Tradinnovation, including a poster session for students. 

13.30-16.30 Session 7: Education session : Building food for the future: bridging the gap between education, inclusive gastronomy, interculturality and sustainability (Chair person Reine Barbar and Roisin Burke)

13:30 – 13:45     Welcome & Introduction

13:45 – 14:30 Part 1: Transforming Student Projects into Scientific Outputs

13:45 – 14:00: Process of submitting articles based on student projects (challenges: data quality, writing skills, time constraints, and the use of artificial intelligence tools). Enjoy a coffee while seeing student’s posters from several countries: France, Portugal, Tunisia…
Quick pitches are planned on site, online, pre-recorded by students, by educators…
Posters include: target population, studied recipe, scientific methodology and innovations levers.

3rd July to 5th July 2024: 1st Transnational Meeting in Lisboa, Portugal
The first Transnational Meeting of the Tradinnovations project took place in Lisbon, Portugal, from July 3rd to July 5th 2024, hosted by NOVA School, one of the project’s key partners.
After 8 months of online collaboration, project partners finally had the opportunity to meet in person, strengthen their cooperation, and exchange ideas. During 3 inspiring days, the consortium reviewed and validated the activities already completed, discussed expectations and objectives for next years, and explored future opportunities for the project.
The meeting also provided the chance to visit the NOVA campus, meet students, and attend presentations of their projects, creating valuable discussions around innovation, international collaboration and the upcoming events. These exchanges opened perspectives for the sustainability and long-term development of Tradinnovations.
Beyond the working sessions, partners enjoyed discovering Portuguese culture, sharing convivial moments together, and exploring the beautiful city of Lisbon! In fact, successful collaborations are also built outside the meeting room!
This first Transnational Meeting marked an important milestone for the project, reinforcing partnerships and setting the foundations for the next event of Tradinnovations: the Summer School in Slovenia!

1st July to 3rd July 2025: 1st Tradinnovations Summer School and 2nd Transnational Meeting in Ljubljana, Slovenia. 
The very first Tradinnovations Summer School took place at the University of Ljubljana, Biotechnical Faculty, Slovenia, from July 1st to July 3rd 2025, bringing together nearly 40 students and educators from the 6 partners countries: Finland, Ireland, Spain, Portugal, Slovenia, and France.
For 3 inspiring days, participants explored the links between culinary traditions, innovation, interculturality, and the connection between science and society. The event began with a creative “icebreaker” activity where everyone shared a meaningful dish and the personal memory attached to it. What a warm and memorable way to start the adventure together.
Throughout the Summer School, students presented the Tradinnovations projects they had developed during the year, highlighting traditional recipes, societal challenges, and the diversity of approaches and academic backgrounds involved in the project. Under constraints cooking workshops, interactive presentations, and collaborative activities encouraged participants to think about food innovation in an inclusive and sustainable way.
Beyond the academic program, the Summer School was also filled with cultural discoveries and shared experiences: an international dinner prepared by the students, a meeting with a Slovenian beekeeper, and even a guided boat tour through the beautiful city of Ljubljana.
During the event, project partners also gathered for the 2nd Transnational Meeting to discuss the next stages of Tradinnovations such as the implementation of the educational paths on institutions platform and future perspectives for the end of the project in November 2026.
This first Summer School perfectly reflected the spirit of Tradinnovations: interdisciplinarity, interculturality, creativity, and conviviality. A successful first edition and certainly not the last! 
Stay tuned for the next adventures of the project and especially the Tradinnovations Multiplier Event that will take place in Paris, France from July 1st to 3rd.
